Röppää Windmill (Shops)

Röppää windmill was built in the manor lands in the 1820s, and it was damaged in a storm in the 1920s. Until then it had served as a home-use mill. For sixty years it was idle until it was restored by the Otava Association volunteers in 1986.

There are many mills of the same type in the Häme area, but in Savo they are rare. The mill's name comes after its shape. Its downward-waisted body resembles earlier women's dress . The mill has a great symbolic meaning to the village community.
